DescriptionPampinea is the eldest of all the storytellers. In many ways she becomes the leader of The Decameron, and throughout the stories proves herself to be one of the most mature and balanced members of the group. Due to her suggestion in the Santa Maria Novella church, the young adults escape the horrors of a plague-ridden Florence to the fresh countryside of Fiesole. Pampinea opens The Decameron's first day, and does not prescribe any set theme.
